Leadership Academy Visits Self-Help International to Learn About Innovation and Leadership
On April 4, GRS students in the GRS-Cargill Leadership Academy visited Ms. Nora Tobin, Executive Director of Self-Help International (SHI) at SHI’s Des Moines office.
In the year-long Leadership Academy, students have a specific emphasis on learning about innovation. Students discussed with Ms. Tobin (an ISU alumna) about SHI’s work to alleviate hunger and malnutrition in Ghana and Nicaragua through sustainable community development projects and innovations.
Ms. Tobin also shared insights, advice and experiences from her own career and leadership development. As a sweet treat to cap off the discussions and learning, students had the opportunity to enjoy chocolate produced by farmers SHI works with in Ghana.
Thank you to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Innovation and Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program for supporting the development of the innovation unit in the Leadership Academy and this visit.
