Global Engagement
Tropical countries typically contain the highest diversity of animal species worldwide but are often experiencing substantial conservation challenges and conflicts as humans share the landscape with wildlife. My research centers on animal movements and space use in these heterogenous landscapes in the tropics and U.S., particularly with birds and mammals as flagship species for conservation. My tropical research focuses on the ecosystem service of animal seed dispersal, particularly how animals consume fruits and disperse seeds in fragmented landscapes to potentially restore degraded rainforest areas. I have lived for 1-2 years in Québec, Canada, the Middle East (Qatar/Iraq/Kuwait), and Costa Rica, and have enjoyed birdwatching in over two dozen countries.
