Peace Corps Alumna Returns to Iowa State

March 1

Global Resource Systems (GRS) alumna Rebecca Chamberlin, ’15, shared her Peace Corps experience with GRS and Iowa State University students at the 2018 spring Peace Corps Prep meeting on Feb. 27. Rebecca was an Environmental Action for Food Security (EAFS) Peace Corps Volunteer in Benin from 2015 to 2017.

“Working as an Environmental Action for Food Security Peace Corps Volunteer for Peace Corps Benin helped me grow as a person, develop new skills, and discover what career path I wanted to pursue,” Rebecca said. “During my time in Benin, I collaborated with my community and fellow Peace Corps Volunteers on projects that promoted food security, gender equality, youth development, and health.”

Attendees included members of the ISU Peace Corps Prep Program, GRS Students, Peace Corps Alumni currently working at ISU or greater Des Moines, and the general public. To date, there are nine GRS graduates who have served or are serving in the Peace Corps. Four GRS and Peace Corps Prep students, featured in photo with Rebecca, have accepted positions with Peace Corps and will begin service in 2018.
