Global Engagement
Ms. Clawson ensures Iowa State University students have opportunities to see how cultures and agriculture practices vary around the world by offering faculty lead travel courses.  She has lead student groups to Southern Italy and Sicily, Serbia and Croatia, and Costa Rica.  In Costa Rica students learn about agriculture production across multiple scales and environments, including small-scale vegetable production, export mango production, and citrus processing.  In alternate years, when Iowa State University students are not traveling to Costa Rica, Ms. Clawson and other faculty members host students from our partner university in Costa Rica during their study abroad course to Iowa.  She also works with a service-learning program in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the E.A.R.T.H. Program, recruiting students from Iowa State University to teach horticulture and environmental science classes at a private k-12 school for a semester.
